Fandom Quiz Thing, God, I Suck

Fandom quiz thing - list 15 fandoms, have people guess your favorite character in each, update list as people guess right, etc., etc.

Except I suck, because I could only think of 11 fandoms I even have an overall favorite character in. And it only makes it to 11 by splitting hairs. Most of these are giveaways, but not all; and there are two independent trends involved, so I'll be amused to see who gets which.



1) Amber:

2) Babylon 5: Londo, nailed by technis. Now, don't get me wrong. Londo is an insufferable, self-centered, self-righteous bastard. His decisions and choices are responsible for much of the horror in Babylon 5; he is in and of himself responsible for millions or billions of intelligent lifeforms dying. And yet. And yet. There are two scenes that stand out in my mind, from all of Babylon 5. Lord Refa's death scene will summon me from all the way across the house; the image of Londo staring in horror out at the destruction he's caused only doesn't summon me because it doesn't have a characteristic sound associated. I love many things about B5, and many characters and scenes and lines in it. But Londo is unique in the series: he trades his soul away for power, and then, knowing he has almost no hope of getting his soul back, does his damnedest to undo what he's done all the same.

3) Buffy (seasons 1-3 only): Pre-Super-Lesbian-Witch Willow, nailed by kara_fm_krypton. I have no problems with either the girl-likin' or the powers, but the changes to the character after Season 3 weren't to my liking. (... neither were the changes to the show in general, actually.) As for why? ... well, Kara nailed that, too - she's basically Kitty.

6) Excalibur: Pete Wisdom, nailed by Austin, not that it's all that difficult. Mmmmm snarkiness. Also, sadly, fairly close to my preferred physical type. Yes, that is pathetic.

7) Gotham/Bat-Family: Renee Montoya, nailed by terrasias, who gets bonus points right alongside Kara - since I'd completely forgotten she existed when I noted down my answers. (I'd been thinking Steph, FYI - and for those of you who know how unfond I am of canonSteph, you may derive how unfond I am of the Bats in general. Spoiler was the only reason I had for picking up any of the direct Batbooks - but I've picked up more GCPD for Montoya than I have actual current issues of Steph-related stuff, so Renee wins.) Have you noticed the 'chick with no special abilities, but kicking ass because she thinks it's important to do so' theme here yet? ;)

(Bonus points to kara_fm_krypton, who remembered that I like pre-Crisis Huntress, but I was thinking current Gotham rather than retconned. :) )

8) Green Arrow: Mia Dearden, tagged by tarotchan. Mia doesn't kick ass because she was born to it. She doesn't kick ass because her parents did. She doesn't kick ass because she has special superhuman powers. She kicks ass because dammit, it's important, and nobody including the guy she wants to learn from and fight beside is gonna stop her. I had no idea who she was when samy solicited me to play her; she's now my favorite character still being published regularly. Sigh. ;)

9) Legion of Super-Heroes:

10) Star Trek: Tasha Yar, called by technis. You wanna know why I stopped watching Star Trek series? Tasha is it. In the first season of ST:TNG, Tasha was the only character I really attached to hard. And then? Gone. I know from later viewings of reruns that things picked up later, but in that first series, Tasha was the only reason for me to watch. She grew up in hell, and then she put herself to work trying to make sure nobody else would have to; she was so badly scarred that the only person she was attracted to was an android, but she didn't let that stop her. (Bev. Guinan. PFEH. ;) )

11) X-Men: Kitty Pryde, also nailed by Austin; there are privileges to bein' first. She's smart, she's bright, she made her choices a long time ago, and she'll bite your head off if you try to take that choice away.

1) Fiona is close, but a no. Then again, they're all close. Problem with being an immortal family. ;)
3) Spike is, oddly, a no. I like him best briefly later, but I don't actually like the show that much later.

7) Robin's a no, either the Tim Drake Robin or either of his predecessors. ;)
8) Dinah is also, oddly enough, a no.
9) Brainiac 5 is yet another no - Querl's cute, and not irredeemable, but not by any means my favorite character.
10) Neither Data nor Wesley, though I cheerfully give away that you're on the right series.
11) Kitty it is, to nobody's surprise. ;)

No on all counts, alas. Brand is actually my second favorite Amber character, though, sad as it might be. Raistlin is, again, second place (yes, I was a protogoth, hush). Alfred and Connor are both wrong; Jenni is, oddly, wrong - she's my favorite Legionnaire but not my favorite LSH character. And ... no, not Riker. :)

Q is way too good to ever play with Baiganx. Baiganx would be all 'Helo it is I the potatoemaster!help whisper.' and Q would be all, "FUCK THAT. MEET THE BORG BITCH."

7) Gotham/Bat-Family: Huntress? ... hmm. I'm only not awarding this one on a technicality - I was thinking current Gotham/Bats. Pre-Crisis Huntress is, however, my longtime overall favorite, so you get bonus points but not the writeup. ;)
8) Green Arrow: Eddy Fyers? ... Sadly, I don't even known who Eddy Fyers is. :)
9) Legion of Super-Heroes: Neither Lyle nor Tinya is correct, strangely enough; I like both characters, certainly, but they're not my favorites.
10) Star Trek: Spock and Chekov are both wrong - it's a TNG character.

*headscratch* Okay, I'll make final guesses on a couple of 'em, and then I'm giving up. ;) BTW - #11 is naturally Kitty Pryde, but my fingers omitted her. Stupid fingers.

7) Mm. Oracle -feels- like she should be a gimme, but I'll throw Selena in there as my back-up guess.

Second round of guesses is all wrong. Delenn is a sweetie, and the moment when she goes from the politely conciliating ambassador to calmly informing a number of warships to move or die is gorgeous, but no. I've rarely been able to muster interest in Oracle or Selena, oddly enough. And Bev annoys me in almost all of her appearances.

One out of three! Cosmic Boy, while I like a bunch of the stuff he does, is not my favorite character; nor am I fond of Reading Rainbow with a hair decoration. Mia, on the other hand, is single-arrowed-ly responsible for my nagging my husband every couple weeks to go pick up comics. I've been buying Teen Titans and Green Arrow lately because of her. Even with OH MY GOD THE AWFUL ART in the latter.

7. Oddly enough, you actually beat me on that one; I was thinking Steph, but I've spent more on Montoya issues than I have on Steph issues, so despite that I completely forgot about the character, you actually win. ;)
